The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is conducting a nationwide search to fill the position of Public Transportation Programs Administrator.  The candidate will provide leadership to help shape public transportation in Virginia and will develop key policy directives for the agency to increase the efficiency of Virginia’s existing public transportation system, as well as plan for future system expansions. 

DRPT is a fast-paced, growing agency associated with public transportation services, passenger and freight rail systems, and transportation demand management that provides mobility and transportation choices to Virginia’s citizens.  We are looking for a leader who seeks to be a part of the solution to Virginia’s transportation needs.

The successful candidate will oversee the agency’s public transportation division which includes transit and human service transportation programs.  The position administers a $300 million annual state and federal grant program which supports over $1.1 billion in public transportation initiatives in Virginia.

The position requires strong project management and development skills, as well as experience within the transportation industry.  A Project Management Professional (PMP) credential would be a plus. The Public Transportation Programs Administrator must possess excellent communication skills as they will routinely interact with diverse constituencies including elected officials; federal, state and local leaders; agency boards; public transportation providers; and the general public.

Planning and Mobility Programs Administrator Commonwealth of Virginia

The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is conducting a nationwide search to fill the position of Planning and Mobility Programs Administrator. The candidate will provide leadership to help shape planning for rail and public transportation in Virginia and will help mold key policy directives for the agency to plan for increasing the efficiency of Virginia’s existing rail and public transportation system, as well as plan for future system expansions. This position is also responsible for the Agency’s Transportation Mobility Programs.

DRPT is a fast-paced, growing agency associated with public transportation services, passenger and freight rail systems, and transportation demand management (TDM) that provides mobility and transportation choices to Virginia’s citizens. We are looking for a leader who seeks to be a part of the solution to Virginia’s transportation needs.

The successful candidate will oversee the agency’s planning and mobility programs section which includes rail and public transportation planning, environmental studies, and transportation demand management studies and programs. The position administers rail, transit and TDM studies including the $6.6B statewide rail plan, $30B statewide transit needs plan, rail resource allocation plan, and transit resource allocation plan. Fill this position and be a key participant at the State, Regional, and Local Government level and oversee conducting the $45M Richmond to Washington, D.C. 110 mile long Tier II Environmental Impact Study; Hampton Roads to Richmond High Speed Rail EIS; and the Richmond to Raleigh High Speed Rail Tier II EIS.

Rail Transportation Programs Administrator Commonwealth of Virginia

We are looking for a leader who seeks to be a part of the solution to Virginia’s transportation needs.

The successful candidate will oversee the agency’s rail transportation programs section which includes rail transportation programs. The position administers over $50 million annual state and federal grant program which supports over $600 million in public private rail transportation initiatives in Virginia.

The position requires significant experience within the rail industry including experience in project development and management, grant funding and administration. The Rail Transportation Programs Administrator must possess excellent communication skills as they will routinely interact with diverse constituencies including elected officials; federal, state and local leaders; agency boards; rail and public transportation providers; and the general public.
