Final Report
The Hampton Roads Region is one of the most heavily populated regions in Virginia. In order to address congestion is the region, Hampton Roads must take a regional approach to transportation investments.
In spring 2009, the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) concluded Phase 1 of the Hampton Roads Vision Plan which provided high level recommendations for regional transit in Hampton Roads.
DRPT, in partnership with Hampton Roads Transit and the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority, is currently managing Phase 2 of the plan which is taking those recommendations and looking at each in more detail to determine if they support existing land use plans, fit within the local comprehensive plans in the region and work for the regional transit systems.
The plan will provide more detailed and concrete recommendations on regional transit improvements for Hampton Roads, which will allow the region to advance transit enhancements with a strategic regional focus.
Public information meetings were held in the winter of 2011 in the region to provide a time for the public to learn more about the recommendations in the plan. Materials that were presented at the meetings are available at the right.
Public comments were accepted and the Final Report can be found on the right.
