DRPT's Transit & TDM Annual Report to the General Assembly
Beginning in 2010, Virginia’s General Assembly directed the DRPT to report annually on “…actions taken by the Commonwealth, local governments and regional transportation authorities to increase transit use and reduce highway congestion and use of single occupant vehicles…”
The Commonwealth uses programs and initiatives involving transportation demand management, transit, teleworking, carpooling, vanpooling and park-and-ride lots to reduce single occupant trips, manage congestion and increase transit use. DRPT’s report titled "How Virginia Is Using Transit and Transportation Demand Management Programs to Address Highway Congestion and Single Occupant Vehicle (SOV) Travel" is submitted annually to the General Assembly in November. This report describes the Commonwealth’s activities involving transportation demand management and transit for the prior year.
