Bay Transit

Bay Transit was created in 1996 as the needs for public transportation on the ever-growing Middle Peninsula heightened. Bay Transit operates out of the Bay Aging office in Urbanna and in 1998‚ Bay Transit took over the operations of Colonial Beach Transit. Currently Bay Transit serves the ten counties of the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck.

FREDericksburg Regional Transit

FREDericksburg Regional Transit began operations in December 1996 on four routes with five buses. Currently FRED operates thirty buses on twenty-one routes Monday through Friday serving the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline‚ Spotsylvania and Stafford. FRED offers regular route‚ commuter rail feeder and route deviation service to citizens of the region. FRED also provides Eagle Express‚ late night Thursday and Friday service and all day Saturday and Sunday service during the academic year under an agreement with the University of Mary Washington.

GRTC Transit System

GRTC is a full service transit system under the direction of a six-member board of directors with three each for the City of Richmond and Chesterfield County. The Board contracts with a management company to operate the system which consists of fixed route transit‚ demand response transit‚ a jobs access program‚ a ridesharing organization known locally as RideFinders‚ and administration of the region's taxis. Richmond is best known for a very active and diverse economy‚ the home of state government‚ history‚ architecture‚ fine arts‚ recreation‚ and natural settings within an urban setting such as the James River and the seven hills of Richmond.

Virginia Railway Express

The Virginia Railway Express(VRE) is a transportation partnership of the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission(NVTC) and the Potomac and Rappanhannock Transportation Commission(PRTC). VRE provides commuter rail service from Northern Virginia suburbs along the I-95 corridor with Fredericksburg as one end and Manassas as the end on the I-66 corridor. VRE serves Alexandria, Crystal City and Union Station in downtown D.C. VRE is headed by a Operations Board consisting of seven members including three each from NVTC and PRTC as well as a DRPT representative. A VRE Operations Group oversees the daily operations which includes many innovative programs designed to make VRE a state of the art commuter railroad.
