TYSONS EXPRESS - NEW COMMUTER SERVICE TO LAUNCH

 Ribbon-cutting event Nov. 6

 

Who:  Statewide and regional officials will cut the ribbon on a new Northern Virginia commuter service in Woodbridge on Friday, Nov. 6.

What: Tysons Express, the first commuter bus service with a direct route from Woodbridge to Tysons, begins Monday Nov. 9.  Tysons Express is one of the new regional bus services to and around Tysons that will provide more transportation choices and help commuters during the construction of I-495 Capital Beltway HOT Lanes and Metrorail to Dulles.   The new buses, equipped with free WiFi , will be free the first week and fares will be half-price the next six months.

Other Tysons bus services coming up to help commuters during construction and to benefit regional transportation:

· Tysons Connector, operated by Fairfax County, will offer free lunch-time service around Tysons Corner beginning Nov. 23.   Two shuttle routes will run every ten minutes from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday – Friday in Tysons Corner.  Visit www.fairfaxconnector.com for more information.

·Coming in the fall 2010, Tysons Express will provide service from Loudoun to Tysons 

Tysons Express from Woodbridge to Tysons is operated by PRTC’s OmniRide service and funded by Virginia Megaprojects, a partnership between the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation.  Tysons Connector is operated by Fairfax County and funded by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority s Dulles Corridor Metrorail Rail Project. Virginia Megaprojects are a series OF large - scale transportation improvements that will provide more travel choices AND help ease congestion in Northern Virginia.
